The situation
Northline was about to ship a home speaker into a category that only talks about watts. The better observation was already in the product team: most people do not listen the way the ads assume. They cook, they host, they leave the room. The launch calendar was full of spec posts, and none of them said that.
The work
We cut the launch to one sentence about listening at home, then ran a six-week organic series in real rooms. The creator desk was design writers and music people who would live with the speaker and were told to disagree if it failed. Press went to reviewers who already wrote about domestic sound, with the same sentence and a unit they could keep.
What changed
The launch stopped reading like a spec sheet. Trade pieces and creator posts used the line without being handed a script. When paid began, it had something specific to repeat.
“The ads can wait until the sentence is true.”
